How we teach Physics

GCSE Physics covers energy, electricity, particles, forces, waves, magnetism and space. Students must recall equations, rearrange them and give units, so confidence with algebra matters as much as knowing the ideas.

A-Level Physics adds mechanics, fields, circuits, waves, quantum ideas and more advanced practical analysis. The mathematics is demanding, and examiners expect careful, well-reasoned explanations.

Tutors draw diagrams and sketch graphs on the shared whiteboard, and work through examples before your child tries their own. They also teach how to set out calculations clearly, because method marks can rescue an answer that goes wrong.

How Nerdely works

  1. Tell us what your child needs

Subject, level, exam board and the times that suit you. It takes a couple of minutes.

  2. We find and interview a tutor

We shortlist tutors who teach that subject and level, interview them ourselves and match the right one.

  3. Lessons are booked in

Live, one-to-one, 50-minute lessons in our online classroom, with video, chat and a shared whiteboard.

  4. You see the progress

Homework, quizzes and weekly test scores in your account, plus a short report every month.

Physics tutoring questions

Does physics tutoring include the maths?

Yes. Tutors practise rearranging equations, unit conversions and standard form, and can work with the maths needed at GCSE and A-Level.

Do you cover Combined Science physics?

Yes. Physics is one third of Combined Science, and tutors can focus on those topics. Separate GCSE Physics and A-Level Physics are covered as well.

Can a tutor help with practical questions?

Yes. Tutors cover variables, methods, graphs, uncertainty and evaluation, which are all examined in the written papers.

Is A-Level Physics worth tutoring from Year 12?

Many students find the jump from GCSE steep. Starting early gives time to build the maths and problem solving the course relies on.
