How we teach Spanish
Spanish pronunciation is regular, which makes it a friendly start. At Key Stage 3, pupils learn everyday vocabulary, the present tense, and the difference between ser and estar, along with basic past and future forms.
GCSE Spanish assesses listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students need accurate verbs, a range of tenses and the vocabulary for set themes. Speaking and writing improve most when students get feedback on real answers.
At A-Level, students discuss society and culture, study a film or literary text and complete an independent research project. Tutors help with fluent discussion, essay structure and accurate use of the subjunctive. Lessons are mostly conversation, with short homework tasks in between.

Spanish tutoring questions
Will lessons be mostly in Spanish?
As far as your child is ready. Tutors use more Spanish as confidence grows and switch to English to explain tricky grammar.
Can you help with the GCSE speaking exam?
Yes. Tutors practise role plays, photo tasks and general conversation, and give feedback on accuracy and fluency.
Is Spanish easier than French?
Many students find pronunciation easier, but verbs and grammar still need steady practice. A tutor keeps that practice regular.
Do you teach beginners?
Yes. Tutors can start from the basics or work to catch up before GCSE.
