How we teach Science
Primary science is hands-on: plants, materials, forces and the human body. Key Stage 3 is where it becomes more abstract. Pupils meet particles, energy, cells and electricity, and start to use equations, graphs and the language of a fair test.
At GCSE, most students take Combined Science, which covers biology, chemistry and physics and is worth two grades. Others take the three sciences separately. Either way, the exams reward recall, calculation and clear written explanations, and many marks go on practical skills.
Our tutors explain ideas with diagrams on the shared whiteboard, then check understanding with questions. If your child needs deeper help in one science, we can match a specialist for Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

Science tutoring questions
What science levels do you tutor?
Primary science, Key Stage 3 science and GCSE Combined Science. For separate sciences at GCSE and A-Level, see our Biology, Chemistry and Physics tutors.
What is the difference between Combined Science and separate sciences?
Combined Science is one qualification covering all three sciences, giving two GCSE grades. Separate sciences are three GCSEs, with more content in each. Your school decides which route your child takes.
Can one tutor teach all three sciences?
For primary and Key Stage 3, often yes. For GCSE, we can match one tutor for Combined Science or a specialist for each separate science, depending on what your child needs.
Does tutoring cover practical work?
Tutors cover the thinking behind required practicals: methods, variables, results tables, graphs and conclusions, which are all tested in written papers.
