How we teach Business
GCSE Business looks at how a business starts and grows: ownership, marketing, operations, finance and people. Exam questions give a short case study, so students must apply ideas to the situation, not simply define terms.
A-Level Business goes further into strategy, investment decisions, accounts, leadership and the wider economic environment. Students analyse data, make calculations and write extended answers that weigh arguments and reach a justified conclusion.
Our tutors teach the ideas, then practise the exam technique that carries the marks: using context, developing chains of reasoning and evaluating. They also work through the calculations, such as break-even, margins and ratios, step by step.

Business tutoring questions
Is business studies mostly writing?
There is a lot of writing, but also calculations on costs, revenue, profit and ratios. Tutors practise both.
How do tutors help with case study questions?
They teach students to pick out details from the case and tie each point to the business, which is where application marks are gained.
Is there an overlap with Economics?
Some, such as markets and costs, but the subjects have different focus. Tell us which one your child studies.
What are evaluation marks and how do we get them?
Evaluation means weighing arguments and reaching a justified judgement. Tutors teach a clear structure for this and practise it on past questions.
